Sayeeda Khanom

Sayeeda Khanom (1937-2020), born: Pabna, Bangladesh. The pioneering female photographer of Bangladesh, Sayeeda Khanom was a press photographer for weekly Begum when she produced a remarkable set of photographs of world famous filmmaker Satyajit Ray of West Bengal. In 1956, she participated in the first international photography contest in Dhaka; that year, she also won an award from an international photography contest in Germany. She paved the way for today’s female photographers of Bangladesh. Her book Smiritir Path Baye (In the Path of Memory) has been recently published.
