CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS + VOLUNTEERS

Do you want be part of creating a new collection celebrating East London’s Bengali community life?

We’re looking for contributions to the archive as well as volunteers, with a variety of ways to get involved.

A collaboration by Four Corners and Swadhinata Trust, the Bengali Photography Archive brings together photographs taken of and by the community, showcasing past and present.

HOW TO TAKE PART

Volunteering

Volunteering placements will last 12 weeks and include an induction day. Volunteers will have the opportunity to get involved in research, correspondence, oral histories, digitisation, cataloguing, project and event management.

Archive submissions:

We accept archive submissions of photos taken by Bengali people in Tower Hamlets on a range of subjects, from family life to event photography.

We will be holding scanning days at Four Corners’ gallery to create digital copies of the images,

on Wednesday 16th November and Wednesday 7th December 2022, 5 pm – 8 pm
