Mela magic returns this summer!

Save the date. The council has announced the return of the annual Boishakhi Mela festival, which gives residents and visitors a chance to enjoy some of the best local, national and international Bengali arts, music and culture.

Free for everyone to attend, the Mela will be back in Weavers Fields, Bethnal Green, on Sunday 30 June with a main stage programme, extensive arts and family area and the Mela market place.

Mayor John Biggs said: “I am delighted that the Boishakhi Mela is back in Banglatown in 2019 and hope the whole community can come together for this colourful and vibrant celebration of Bengali New Year.”
